Kindness heals!

Today is a simple but powerful thought, it’s kindness. Now i’m sure you’re thinking what does being kind have to do with healing…

Science shows that there is a hormone that is produced every time we do something kind. It’s called oxytocin. It’s the opposite of hormones released when we’re stressed, cortisol.

One of the things that Oxytocin does, is it softens the wall of the arteries,” Scientists say. And when that happens, the heart doesn’t have to push as hard to get the blood through, so blood pressure drops.” This is the powerful! By showing kindness it helps us heal!

Random acts of kindness also increase a person’s sense of happiness. Because kindness can promote gratitude. You are kind to others in need; having that awareness then heightens the sense of your own good fortune. Kindness promotes empathy and compassion; which in turn, leads to a sense of interconnectedness with others.

This weekend was a busy one. I went to the Lavender Farm with the Tribe and ran a 5K! I stopped to think about all of the small kind things that people did for me all weekend. From sharing food to lending me tape for my sneakers. I’m so grateful and hope that I performed many acts of kindness as well.

Our challenge is to intentionally perform random acts of kindness that will help us heal and spread joy to others! I challenge you to start today with 5 RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS.

Here’s a few to start you off on your way to work

Text a compliment to a friend

Smile at a random stranger

Put change in a vending machine.

Hold the door open for someone.

Tell a joke.

Return someone’s cart at the store.
